Me
Mum, runner, music lover, dreamer.
I am not a writer or a journalist and my first language is not English. I'm just a mother who studied art and loves people.
This is how I would describe myself in one sentence.
When my son started Reception in September, I quickly realised that the school we enrolled him in was not what I expected. I'm not from this country and I felt very guilty because I thought we didn't ask the right questions when we attended the open days.
Fact: every parent wants the best for their child. I thought over and over about my responsibilities and what I had to do as a mother. After emailing the school with my thoughts and concerns, talking to teachers, the Head of Early Years Foundation Stage, the Headteacher and other parents, I had to realise that I was alone in my feelings and beliefs. I had to choose: accept or fight. I decided on the second one. I wrote down a list of my dreams and my toolkit, and then started thinking about how I could achieve certain goals using my enthusiasm and strengths.
I studied art in Hungary and obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in photography at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. I would say that my life is about art and people. I like to mix the two. Now that my son is in school and has given me the extra motivation I need, I want to do more. I started this blog to share my journey, some good examples I've found, to find like-minded parents, and simply to figure out how I can make a difference - even just a little bit - in this society.
